Fragments of Sickness

The exhibition concerns the feeling of distress, which accompanied me throughout its creation, while using strict procedures and mechanisms of artistic distancing. The working process included several stages: creating preparation sketches in pencil and charcoal, drawing miniature colorful sketches, stretching the canvas, coating it with a thin layer of color, etc. This preparation process established a safe environment, and I regard it as an act of nesting, which enabled sincere and personal expression.

The images presented oscillate between Vanitas symbols that express the temporality of life, and our private images as a family, intimately linked to my mother's illness. As I closed the culmination of this series, I realized that the painting had transformed into a medium for processing experiences and preserving the memory of specific moments. Furthermore, painting functioned as a ceremonial act, enabling me to re-live events continuously, like a daily memorial. Through the creation of this series, I repeatedly try to digest the indigestible
